Fort Wayne Area Council PTA Minutes September 25, 2007
President Rose Hillery called the meeting to order at 7:05 with a welcome and introduced the FWAC PTA packets that will be used for the rest of the year. Board Update Rose announced that Connie Trowbridge was resigning from the board after many years of hard work and presented her with a plaque from the FWAC PTA. Special Presentations Dave Meadows from the Safety Village and Survive Alive talked about the new building and playground. Safety Village is asking for help with donations from FWCS PTA's without tapping into their general funds. For example a separate event like a penny pitch that all funds raised will go directly to the Safety Village. This will be an ongoing project with no specific deadline for turning in funds. Lisa Fabian from the ACEP talked about reading and literary classes and workshops along with the items in the packets that were passed out. Teachers may send out applications to the parents. Secretary's Report The minutes from the last meeting on April 24, 2007 were accepted as written. Treasurer's Report Laura Ramsey presented the Treasurer's Report from last year. Laura also announced and went over the 2007/ 2008 Council Budget and explained any changes made from last year. Position Changes Rose announced the leaving of the board's Treasurer Lisa Dennis. Laura Ramsey was voted in as Treasurer and Stacey Patalita as Secretary. Administration's Report Krista Stockman presented the Administration's Report and invited everyone to attend the FWCS Board meetings that are held on the the second and fourth Monday of the month. Committee Reports Clothing Bank - Jennifer Schuler presented with a list of immediate needs for the Clothing Bank. Jennifer also announced that WBCL was taking on the Clothing Bank as their Community Service Project. Reflections and Citizenship - Connie Trowbridge presented information on this year's Reflection theme. She also announced the Showcase date will be Sunday, January 27, 2008 (place to be announced) and the drop off date is Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 9-10:00 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce. Kathy Green will be taking over as chair of Reflections and Citizenship. Legislation Day - Kim Sands presented information on this year's Legislation's Day trip to Indianapolis. This year's Legislation Day logo is "Public Education-Our Future". Website - Stacey Patalita introduced the new website for FWAC and went over all of it's contents. (www.fortwayneareacouncilpta.org) Business Cards Gail Brown discussed the FWAC PTA Business Cards that were distributed to all FWCS PTA Presidents and how to receive more if needed. A special thanks was given to those who delivered the cards. President's Report Rose briefly went through the FWAC packets "Year at a Glance" that were distributed at the beginning of the meeting and announced that they were to be brought back for each meeting. She also discussed schools collecting pop tabs for Cancer Services of Northeast of Indiana and Dollar Store items for the Boys and Girls Club for our service projects. Rose went over the featured school's display boards and door prizes for the year. Sharing and Caring A PTA president discussed the Script Fundraiser @ UNO's and how it has worked for their school. Another mentioned using Fun Services for their Santa Workshop. Old Business None New Business None The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 and door prizes were distributed.
